a moment, a word, a song…
It always amazes me the amount of time between my posts… I always think I will have time to blog more and then life explodes, and here we are… a week or 2 later.
Things have been good, but busy. Work has been a bit insane–last week required me to edit 40+ workshops within a 4-day span (well, working days at least…). I clocked a pretty hefty work week, which included a lot of work-from-home time, but it got done (although it did require one almost all-nighter). But even with that insanity, I still feel OK because the people here do an excellent job of making you feel appreciated for putting in that kind of time. Beyond that, when I have to work like that, it also means other people on my team are, too.
I’m getting excited for the breaks in this miserable winter weather. We’ve been fortunate to have a few warm, sunny days and I even managed to break out a dress and some red nail polish for the occasion. This was a near-perfect weekend, and the weather helped: one of the highlights was being able to walk around Philly sans jacket, wearing flats with no socks. Bliss, I tell you, absolute bliss…
I won’t get into a full run-down of the weekend because I need to get back to my day job, but to quickly overview: dancing at Boogie Nights in AC on Friday, Chinese food and relaxing on Saturday, followed by enjoying our latest acquisition that evening: a 52-inch plasma TV (our friend Chris is upgrading, which means we got to reap the benefits of his old TV), discovering/falling in love with George Carlin stand up (I seriously don’t know why I didn’t watch that sooner), brunch on Sunday with the family, a pretty awesome photo exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Perelman Building, a couple hours in a quaint coffee shop, and a fun night watching the Oscars with Woobs whilst tweeting our hilarious commentary. I also managed to make a pretty successful mushroom, onion, and 3-cheese enchilada dinner, along with a spicy tuna casserole for later in the week, and started to prep another dinner (balsamic-marinated portobello mushroom caps), AND power clean the bathroom (a rather impressive feat). The only unsuccessful moment of the evening was a failed attempt at putting my eyebrow ring back in. I’m not sure if it’s officially closed (signifying a time in my life that has passed?), or if I just need to try a higher gauge… I might try again tonight.
Anyway, lots of music has been playing in the background of my life recently, but this is the song I’m embracing today. I’ve been hearing it on XPN for some time and noticed it got picked up in a Diet Coke commercial… although I don’t think it really embodies consuming cancer-inducing beverages, I’m glad this ditty is making its way to the masses. It’s a good tune to welcome in spring, warmer weather, and long car drives.
Hope all is well in your corners of the universe. There’s more to report, but it might have to wait for another day…
‘ti then…
