Leaving on a jet plane, don’t know when I’ll be back again…
I’m more than a little embarrassed to admit that I just spent $20 for sort of mediocre Internet service while on my flight to San Fran–but I weighed my options carefully beforehand: It was between this and an overpriced movie and overpriced Bloody Mary. Although one would argue 2 is better than one, it’s been my finding that inflight cocktails usually taste pretty terrible, and the only way to really make them enjoyable is generally by downing a couple. Plus, I’d get more hours of entertainment from the Internet than I would from the movie/booze combined… look at me, with all my practical, adult decisions!
So, as you’ve guessed, I’m writing this from my plane seat, en route to San Fran. This weekend is my best friend’s official 30th birthday celebration and after my Trip of The Year ended up dissolving, and I ended up with all these unused vacay days, I jumped on the chance to come and join the celebration, especially since Parr made a cameo for my 30th birthday celebration earlier this summer (how awesome is she?)
I’m really looking forward to the trip–it’s been awhile since my last vacation, and considering the stress and insanity from the past few months, I think it’s long overdue.
This actually begins a string of upcoming trips–San Fran this month, Iceland next, Pittsburgh for a wedding in December, and then, hopefully, South Africa in the spring. I’m beyond to have so much travel currently on the books–it’s the thing I enjoy and look forward to most. It also helps to break up the time in between routine–not that I’m ever one for much routine, but I’m trying to change that a bit. Routine definitely helps makes things more stable, and keeps me grounded. I don’t think I’m ever going to be totally “together” and regimented, but a little more balance certainly wouldn’t hurt.
Well, this is a pretty uneventful update, but hopefully I’ll be posting some exciting updates from the trip. Hope all is well in your world, dear friend.
