The District Sleeps Along Tonight
I spent the day enjoying the nation’s capital before the #alzheimers advocacy forum officially begins tomorrow. As I laid on the stone slab near the WWII memorial, soaking up the unexpected summer-like day we were blessed with, I realized the spot I chose was nearly the same as where the 2nd photo was taken, almost three decades prior.
I will never be able to get my mom back. That’s a fact that I can’t say I fully accept, but one I know I must understand. But I will forever be retracing my steps to find her, and will continue to move forward to carry her with me in the places she didn’t get to go.
